The Project

Meraki was contracted to work with the City of Revelstoke to develop their municipal regulatory framework for the sale, production and consumption of cannabis in preparation for Canada-wide legalization on October 17th, 2018.  Due to Mayor and Council's desire to have a framework in place prior to legalization the project was to be completed over a six week period of time.  Beginning in mid-September, we successfully developed and implemented a community survey to solicit input from the community on their thoughts and preferences for cannabis (857 surveys completed) and developed a comprehensive regulatory framework that met public preferences and mitigated concerns expressed by technical staff.  We worked closely with senior staff from several City Departments including Development Services, Fire Rescue, Parks and Recreation, Bylaws and RCMP.  The framework was well received by the community and adopted by Mayor and Council on October 16th, 2018, within the allotted time frame.
