Meraki Community Planning respectfully acknowledges that the land on which we live, work and play is located on the Unceded Traditional Territory of the K’ómoks First Nation, the traditional keepers of this land.
We provide support to Indigenous communities (First Nations, Métis, Inuit) in several areas of community planning, including, but not limited to, comprehensive community planning, governance and strategic planning, economic development, health and wellness, social development, energy and infrastructure, land use, environment and climate change, education and culture and language revitalization. We actively demonstrate awareness and have respect for Indigenous community values, cultural practices, local decision-making systems, and principles of self-determination. At Meraki, we understand that good planning holds trust, respect, engagement, transparency, and fairness as guiding principles. Our goal is to support leaders at every level and help build strong collaborative working teams that develop long-term internal capacity.
Award of Excellence
Meraki Community Planning is pleased to announce we have won the 2021 'Inclusionary Planning' National Award of Excellence from the Canadian Institute of Planners. This award highlights our inclusionary, client-centred, relationship-based approach to Indigenous Planning with one of our long-standing clients, the Kitselas First Nation. We are honoured to share this achievement with the Kitselas people and dedicate this award to all of the survivors, and loved ones of survivors, of the residential school system across Canada, in an effort to work toward dismantling the power structure and oppression created by the eurocentric, patriarchal system and worldview.
