The Project

Meraki was hired as a subcontractor to McElhanney as the project engagement specialist to support the Flood Plain Mapping Scoping Study administered by the Fraser Basin Council and supported by the Province of BC and Government of Canada through the Flood Hazard Identification and Mapping Program.

The purpose of the project was to understand needs and identify future potential projects for flood plain mapping in Northern BC. The initiative aims, over time, to develop high quality, standardized, consistent flood plain mapping for communities in BC located in areas of flood risk that are without recent flood maps. The maps can be used by First Nations and municipal governments to inform land use planning and climate change adaption policies.

Meraki played a key role in the development of communication and engagement strategies for engagement with First Nations and municipal government authorities and the oversight of the engagement implementation process.
