Town of Princeton

Official Community Plan 2022-2042

Meraki partnered with the Town of Princeton to undertake a comprehensive review and update of its Official Community Plan, creating a long-term roadmap for a resilient, inclusive, and sustainable future. Following the impacts of the 2021 floods, changing housing needs, increasing wildfire risk, and a desire for more balanced growth, the project evolved into a complete reimagining of the Town’s vision for the next 20 years. The Plan also positioned the Town to respond proactively to emerging provincial housing legislation, including Bill 44, by supporting increased housing choice, strategic infill, and more compact, complete neighbourhoods.

A comprehensive communications and engagement strategy was developed to ensure broad community participation, bringing together residents, businesses, stakeholders, technical agencies, and Indigenous partners throughout the planning process. The resulting Plan established a community-supported framework for sustainable growth, climate resilience, reconciliation, active transportation, housing diversity, and economic development while preserving Princeton’s small-town character.

Recognizing that successful plans must be implemented—not shelved—Meraki developed a practical implementation framework that prioritizes actions, identifies funding opportunities, and supports annual work planning and budgeting, ensuring the Plan continues to guide decision-making long after adoption.
